Royal Air Force Ferry Command

Description

A collection of artifacts and documents of aircrews that served with the Royal Air Force (RAF) Ferry Command (FC). Ferry Command consisted of civilian volunteer as well as military pilots who were responsible for delivering (ferrying) aircraft from North America to the various theatres of war from 1941-1943 before becoming No. 45 Transport Command. RAF Ferry Command pilots came from the United States, Canada, Britain and elsewhere to fly the urgently needed aircraft across the Atlantic and Pacific, to the operational units in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia during World War II.
