Pilot Officer John Morris

Pilot Officer John Morris graduated through the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan in Canada from No. 9 Bombing & Gunnery School, Mont Joli, Quebec. He served overseas with No. 419 Moose Squadron, flying with No. 6 Bomber Group R.C.A.F. in Avro Lancaster bombers. Morris completed 15 operations over enemy territory before his aircraft was shot down.
Flight Sergeant John Morris, Air Gunner, R.C.A.F. 419 Moose Squadron (Moosa Aswayita) RAF Middleton St George. Lancaster X KB 718 VR-J shot down by a night fighter during an operation to bomb the railyards at Villeneuve St Georges, France. The Lancaster crashed near the village of Fay, 2 km NE of Chailly-en-Biere, France, July 5 1944.
Morris survived and parachuted uninjured to the ground into occupied France. Once on the ground Morris was an evader and was hidden by resistance groups in Melun and Paris, until the Liberation of France
