Description

RAF Flying Helmet Type C, 1942 Pattern, AM 22c/450. This dark brown leather unwired size 2 helmet is fitted with four brown leather goggle straps each with brown painted metal press studs, plus a central buckled brown leather strap. The brown leather chinstrap has a Bennett's friction fastener and a strap with a metal end tip. The flexible rubber receiver carriers are not present. The helmet is fitted with six metal male press studs - three on each side making it suitable for E-series and G-type masks. The helmet is lining is a yellow chamois with a brown velveteen sweat absorbing panel on the brow and the chinstrap flap. Chamois covered wool ear cushions are filled over the ear openings. The name and serial number, "WHITE 550547" is hand printed into the chamois lining. "AIR" F22' is stamped beneath it.
