Description
RCAF Flying Helmet Type B The B type helmet, which appeared as early as 1935, can easily be identified by its large, domed earphone housings with DOT zipper closures, incorporating donut shaped wool filled chamois covered ear cushions for soundproofing. There is a five inch hemmed vertical slit at the centre of the nape with a leather panel fold sewn onto the right side of it along with a three inch verticle strap with metal buckle sewn along side of it. A ten inch long brown leather strap which is sewn into the helmet seam behind the right zippered ear pocket is fastened to a metal gripper buckle which is attached on the opposite side. The lining has the name "J. BOWLING 864098" printed in black marker vertically up the slit.
