Description
RAF No.2 Leather Flight Helmet Brown leather helmet with yellow chamois lining with an identification label sewn inot the crown and a brown velveteen sweat absorbing panel on the brow and at the chinstrap. A six inch reddish brown leather chinstrap is secured by a Bennett's friction fastener. On each side of the face opening are two brown painted metal press studs which have "CARR'S DOT" stamped inside of them. There is a five inch vertical slit or vent with three inch reddish brown leather strap fastened by a metal buckle at the back nape. The name, "SGT. PIOT H.M. McINERNEY" is printed on the inside seam of this slit. A ten inch reddish brown leather strap with a rounded tip runs horizontally across the back of the helmet and is secured by a Bennett's friction fastener.
