Title
Stohwasser gaiter
Description
RIGID "CLAMSHELL" BROWN LEATHER STOHWASSER GAITER. This dark brown leather leg protective covering when rolled out resembles a clam shell, wider at the top than at the bottom. Wrapped around the calf section of the leg, attached on the upper right side by two brass coffin shaped rivets is a square brass buckle. Directly in front of it next to the vertical edge is a six inch leather strap also attached by two brass coffin-shaped rivets. The gaiter is secured at the top by means of a brass slot on the upper left side by which the strap is internally threaded outwardly and then fastened to the buckle. Similarly an arrow shaped one inch piece of black metal is rivetted to the interior lower right side which secures the bottom end of the gaiter by means of sliding this metal piece down inside a mated brass component attached to the outer lower left side of the gaiter. The number "15' and "363" is stencilled in black on the interior surface of both gaiters.
