Description

black leather suitcase with colour RCAF insignia painted on front in centre paper sticker on left and right side of insignia (L) reading "Whitehorse Yukon" and (R) reading "Alaska". Both stickers are discolured and ripped suitcase has two straps with buckles and metal clasp locks, as well as, a lock on the top centre blue plaid fabric lining inside suitcase, with 2 pockets, flap and straps with buckles and clothes hangar owners initials on top of case under handle, reads: A.E.B.

This suitcase belonged to Alfred Edward Blottner who was a Flight Sergeant in the RCAF. He was married the day after war was declared on September 4, 1939. He was originally stationed in Toronto and travelled across Canada, being stationed in Winnipeg, Edmonton, Dawson Creek, Whitehorse and Vancouver Island. After the end of the war he and his wife Dorothy and their daughter Sheila settled in Ancaster, Ontario in Spring Valely -the first Veterans survery to be established post-war.
