Provenance

Frank Kenwood acquired this belt from the same German guard who killed a Canadian Prisoner of War in cold blood. This event happened when Canadian, British and American prisoners of war were marched from Stalag Luft III prison camp at Sagan, northeast of Berlin to Marlag, a large German naval camp north of Hanover near the Baltic. The unfortunate P.O.W. was gunned down when he had permission to step out of line next to a corn field and was shot by this guard on the pretense that he was attempting to escape.
