German Iron Cross 2nd Class medal. The medal is of an Iron Cross with a raised decorative edge and black interior. A swatiska is at centre and 1939 in bottom arm. On reverse 1813 is raised in the bottom arm of the cross. Ribbon colours from left to right are black, white, red, white, black.

Provenance
the iron cross was originally an award for Prussian soldiers during the Napoleonic wars. In 1939 Hitler reinstituted the award changing the design by replacing the original oak leaves with a swatiska and adding the year 1939. The award was given to German soldiers as well as Axies allied soldiers and even civilians. The Iron Cross Second Class was awarded for a single act of bravery.
