brass button from a German WWI Tunic. Button is round with a raised image of a crown. possibly taken off a German soldier during WWI by Jacob E. Mott. Was with belongings sent home after his death.

Provenance
2nd Lt. Jacob E. Mott trained as an observer at the School of Military Aeronautics in 1917. On August 21 he was assigned to No. 21 Squadron RFC with two Corps on the Ypres France line. killed in action on 23 December 1917.
