brass button from Canadian military uniform during WWI. Button has raised image of a maple leaf circled by a banner with a tudor crown above. "CANADA" in raised letters is above crown. Words on banner (garter) read "honi soit qui mal y pense" inscription on rear reads " W Scully Montreal"

2nd Lt. Jacob E. Mott trained as an observer at the School of Military Aeronautics in 1917. On August 21 he was assigned to No. 21 Squadron RFC with two Corps on the Ypres France line. killed in action on 23 December 1917.
