brass German WWI button. Design on front is of a horn wrapped around a shield below a crown. Inscription on reverse reads " De Rooster Bruxells" Button is from collection of Jacob E. Mott while serving in France, souvenir possibly from a captured or killed German soldier.

2nd Lt. Jacob E. Mott trained as an observer at the School of Military Aeronautics in 1917. On August 21 he was assigned to No. 21 Squadron RFC with two Corps on the Ypres France line. killed in action on 23 December 1917.
