Description

signalling daylight by Western Clock Co. Ltd. in wooden box with canvas cover/lid. Shoulder strap for use in the field or aircraft. Inside right side of lid is the signaller with instruction plate. Box contains signal lamp with plate that reads " 1943 Lamps Signalling Daylight Short Range Projector MkII with serial number C3250. Also includes stakes that screw into lamp which allow lamp to stand in the ground. replacement parts and bulb in left side compartment.

During World War II, Westclox and other General Time Corporation subsidiaries produced aviation instrumentation and control components, compasses for the United States Army, and clocks for the United States Navy. From 1942 to 1945, Westclox ceased all production intended for domestic civilian sale and dedicated its production resources to the war effort, becoming a major manufacturer of fuses for military ordnance.
