Description

The RAAF took delivery of five Beavers between July 1955 and November 1961. All were used primarily by the Australian National Antarctic Research Expedition and were operated by the RAAF Antarctic Flight from skis. However, A95-4 operated with the No 1 Air Trials Unit at the Woomera rocket range for two years before being shipped to Antarctica. Blizzards took a heavy toll with A95-201 and 203 suffering major damage in a storm in December 1959, while 204 was destroyed a year later. The Beavers service ended with the disbandment of the Antarctic Flight in November 1964.
