Item is a slide rule calculating device called a load adjuster. It is used for the calculating of the centre of gravity and load when cargo is being loaded onto an aircraft and so that the load is evenly distributed so it does not affect the flight and handling characteristics of an aircraft. This particular load adjuster is for the Consolidated B-24 Liberator (D, E, F, G, H and J models) and the PB4Y-1 Catalina. All of the calculating information is on the front of the artifact and the layout of the aircraft divided into zones along with jug points and leveling lugs areas is on the back. Also has "Property of U.S. Government" on the back left side along with the manufacturer, Cox and Stevens Aircraft Corp, Mineola, NY. Storage case is missing.
