A large print of a Dakota of 436 RCAF Transport Squadron on detachment at Toungoo. Toungoo DZ, Burma August 1 to 22, 1945 During the first three weeks of Agust, 1945 a number of Dakotas of 436 RCAF Transport Squadron were on detachment at Toungoo, in the Shan Hills about 130 miles east of Ramree Island. Their duty was to support Force 136, a British led guerilla organization, operating in that area. The detachment was assisted by other 436 Dakotas based on Ramree Island. The drop zones (DZ's) were located in deep valleys or on the sides of cloud obscured hills. Hours of dangerous flying were frequently required before they could be found, often in range of Japanese ground fire.
