A print of Dakota 435 RCAF Transport Squadron. Action at Shwebo January, 12, 1945 Several Dakotas of 435 RCAF Trasport Squadron, flying without fighter escort, were in the circuit at Shwebo, about 180 miles south-east of Imphal. At an altitude of 400 feet they were attacked by a number of Japanese single engined "Oscar" fighters. This resulted in two Dakotas being destroyed, one damaged and six Canadians killed. Two of the surviving pilots wer awarded D.F.C.'s for their skill and courage displayed during the attack.
