Description
Eight metal buttons with initials "EFTS" on front. EFTS stands for Elementary Flying Training Schools. Four of the buttons are 7/8" in diameter; four are 5/8" diameter. On the back of each button is stamped "J.R. Gaunt, Montreal". J. R. Gaunt & Sons Ltd. manufactured military and insignia items.

Elementary Flying Training Schools (EFTS) gave a trainee 50 hours of basic flying instruction on a simple trainer (e.g. De Havilland Tiger Moth, Fleet Finch, Fairchild Cornell) over 8 weeks. Elementary schools were operated by civilian flying clubs under contract to RCAF and most instructors were civilian. The next step for a pilot would be the Service Flying Training Schools. Note: No. 10 EFTS was located here at Mount Hope and relocated to RCAF Pendleton in 1942.
