Fire Extinguisher

Item

Title

Fire Extinguisher

Description

An ESSEX No. 3 Methyl Bromide fire extinguisher. (Has been emptied, 16 Aug, 2017) Made under License from National Fire Protection LTD. Tested to 350lbs The story that comes with this item is that it had been used in a North American Harvard aircraft during the Second World War. With some research and discussion with CWH engineers, it has been determined that Harvard aircraft used C02, (and still do) as a fire suppresant in the engine compartment. However, the bracket and pull cord, as well as the direction of the output from fire extinguisher indicate it could have been an improvised fire extinguisher for an aircraft, perhaps a Harvard or other type.
