Oxygen Mask

Description

Oxygen Mask Type H, 6D/814-816 (large) The type H mask was a development of the G mask and differed little except that it was lighter because of having a smaller, lighter microphone unit, the type 57 (American model MC253). The type H mask was service tested operationally as early as 1943 and was officially issued beginning in 1944. Because it did not repressent any temendours improvement, it did not immediately supersed the G mask. The H was initially used only to high altitude photo-reconnaissance pilots and so a relatively small number were manufactured prior to 1945. It remained in use until the 1980's.
