Thirteen tiny brass Auer capsules the majority of which are filled with a wick and magnesium igniters All of the capsules are stamped with the manufacturers name, AUER. They are threaded in the middle to twist open or closed. A brass thimble with no significance was included in this lot.

In 1903 Austrian Chemist Carl Auer Von Welsbach combined Iron & Cerium to create Auer metal which became the small flint used in lighters today. Welsbach's invention made lighters more efficient, safer, and more popular.
