Aviation coin from the Royal Canadian Mint. 1996 Jim Bruce, an internationally acclaimed aviation artist , created the design for this coin.The reverse features 2 Mk 4B's of the No. 445 Squadron, RCAF, emerginfg from the clouds. The cameo portrays the likeness of Jan Zurakowski, Chief Test Pilot with Avro Canada. The obverse features the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Dora de Pedry Hunt

* On December 18, 1952 Zurokowski exceeded Mach 1 while flying the Mk 4, RCAF 18112. This was the first straight wing aircraft to exceed the speed of sound without rocket power.
