Provenance
Nose Art was painted on canvas by ground crew for 582 Squadron( also signed by ground crew) and removed before flights.Canvas then hung in mess hall or barrcks to generate comraderie between squadron members. Donor's father was Pilot Gavin James Brownwell J26394 and is seen 3rd from left in photograph.(on right) Apparently, the RAF did not approve of Nose Art and by painting something on a removable canvas, the aircrew were still able to have a graphic or symbol to represent them.
