1942 U.S. PROPERTY M-8 Navy Flare gun Serial No. E 020164 This 37mm smooth bore weighs just over 2 lbs or 33 1/2oz. and is marked " US PROPERTY PISTOL PYROTECHNIC M-8 MADE BY M.S.W.C. is stamped into the metal part of one side of the handle. Construction is stamped black sheet steel, parkerized with aluminum back strap and black checkered bakelite grips. It has a built in ejector for when you open the barrel. The barrel has lugs enabling it to be locked into an aircraft firing port for discharge.
